You will be collected from your accommodation for this three and a half hour return trip over the highest main road in New Zealand, the alpine Crown Range, which takes you from Queenstown to the Cardrona Hotel.
From Arrow Junction, near Arrowtown, you will have uninterrupted views as you begin the steep and winding climb up what is known as ‘The Zig Zag’ to the 1121-metre summit for a photo stop. From here you will be overlooking some of the Wakatipu Basin’s most spectacular scenery. One of New Zealand’s oldest and most iconic hotels, the historic Cardrona Hotel, was built in 1863 during the height of the Otago gold rush. Once a prosperous settlement, Cardrona’s old hotel, with its 1860’s historic façade, is only one of two remaining buildings from the gold rush era.
Once at the Cardrona Hotel you will enjoy a complimentary drink of your choice and have an hour to explore what Cardrona has to offer..
